A Year In Review For Chase Construction NW, Inc.

Celebrating 2015!

This has been another great year for Chase Construction NW, Inc! Being in the Puget Sound, we always have to work around the rain. But this summer, we broke records for being hot and dry, which means we were able to service a lot of customers, and roof a lot of homes! Here’s a quick look back on what a great year it was for Chase Construction NW, Inc.!

A New IKO Roof With A View in Seattle

Seattle RoofersWe had a lot of fun this year all around the Puget Sound, here are a few of our favorites! In February, we we re-roofed a home with a beautiful view in the Magnolia neighborhood in Seattle!  This home had an existing 3 tab roofing system that was old and failing. Our crew skillfully installed a new IKO Pro4 roofing system and snapped a few shots of the view while they were up there.  Watch the video here!

Surprise Roof Rot in Federal Way

GAF Timberline Roof in Federal WayLater we came across a gem in Federal Way. Our crew had the opportunity to show their resilience through roadblocks, and this project as a whole showed the great importance of routine roof maintenance. The homeowners were told that the roof was in relatively good condition but needed to be replaced at some point. They decided get it replaced sooner rather than later, mostly for aesthetic reasons. As we set out to remove the existing shingles, the Walsh family stared in shock as they saw the rotted foundation that their shingles lay on. This is perhaps the scariest aspect of roofing systems – sometimes the damage isn’t even noticeable until the first few layers have been extracted. Needless to say, our crew knew exactly what steps to take to make sure this roof was repaired correctly and beautifully, utilizing the GAF Timberline roofing system. Watch the video here!

Mountain View in Eatonville

Eatonville Roofers www.chasenw.comAnother one of our favorite projects of 2015 was a massive 132 square foot home on which we installed the ASC Skyline 26G 16” pencil ribbed standing seam metal roofing system in weathered copper. To quote the homeowner- “Their crew was wonderful on site. They were on timeworked really hardpicked up their trash, raked for nails, they were friendly, and it was just a great group of hardworkers.  We really appreciated them.” We truly appreciate our crew as well, thank you for your dedication to excellence!! With friendly and appreciative home owners, a beautiful home, and an amazing view of Mt Rainier, this project definitely stands out as one of our favorites of 2015! Helping a Friend in Need

National Roofing Week Chase Construction North West Inc.Lastly, we had the opportunity to show our love for our community this year as well. Our friend John Bachner suffered a nearly fatal accident late last year leaving him in a wheelchair. His new disability proved hard to navigate a two story home and he was force to move to a more accommodating living situation. Unfortunately his new house desperately needed a new roof. Chase Construction NW, Inc. was able to come to the rescue with the help of some friends in the industry. This project was one that showed the philanthropic nature of our industry as TAM donated their skylights, MacArthur Co. provided materials at a considerably reduced rate, and a majority of the workers’ time and labor was provided free of charge. We are proud to be a part of an industry that cares for the community the way that we do! Watch the video here!

Thanks for a Great Year!

DensDeck® Roof Board

Proven Performance for nearly 30 years!

Densdeck Roof BoardsWhen it comes to roof boards, DensDeck roof boards are proven for their toughness and versatility. They have billions of square feet installed in different types of roofing systems and climates. They are far more effective than paper-faced gypsum boards, wood fiberboard and perlite, and other conventional roofing products, to withstand deterioration, warping and job-site damage, due to it’s unique construction. DensDeck® panels continue to earn industry accolades due to their ability to deliver high quality performance, every time.

Some of the benifits of DensDeck® Roof Boards

Provides superior fire protection: DensDeck® and DensDeck® Prime roof boards are excellent fire barriers over combustible and noncombustible roof decks.  Georgia-Pacific Fire Rated Products, such as DensDeck Roof Boards, are required by standards established by third party organizations to provide certain levels of fire resistance. This is established by testing specified building assemblies/systems in a laboratory setting under certain controlled conditions and pursuant to certain procedures. Read more about its Class 1 Fire Rating here.

Holds up well under normal construction and maintenance foot traffic while stiffening and stabilizing roof decks: The enhanced boards demonstrate superior compressive strength to support equipment and post-construction foot traffic. DensDeck_IMG_3151The DensDeck Prime panels show greater flexural strength and pull-through resistance than ¼” gypsum fiber boards in fastener system** testing.

**3 in. insulation plates and #12 fasteners

Easy to install in all types of roof system: The coated surface of DensDeck Prime Roof Boards provides an ideal substrate for a wide variety of adhered roofing systems by allowing a uniform spread of adhesives, which results in a strong, consistent bond. In 2013, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum made several enhancements to DensDeck Prime Roof Board, and contractors particularly like its ease of handling, easy scoring and snapping with no special tools required.

Ideal product for direct membrane application: Another key feature is

Adhesives are easily applied to DensDeck Roof Boards

demonstrable dimensional stability so no gapping is required; and DensDeck panels are noncombustible, per ASTM E136. They can be used in cold mastic, torch-applied modified bitumen as well as fully-adhered, single-ply systems. DensDeck Prime Roof Boards are resistant to mold growth, and have scored a rating of 10, the highest level of performance for mold resistance under the ASTM D3273 test method.

Tested within roofing systems for sound isolation: Sound Isolation solutions are made easy with DensDeck® Roof Boards. Introduced to the market nearly 30 years ago, DensDeck® Roof Boards are the first gypsum roof boards tested to contribute to Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings of up to 61 and Outdoor Indoor Transmission Class (OITC) ratings of up to 49 in roofing assemblies for commercial framed construction. This is important to meet the industries new standards, codes, and green building program demands. This also makes it an ideal material for buildings in noisy areas such as near airports, freeways, and railroads.

One of the benefits of being members, is the NRCA University. They recently hosted a free webinar titled: Technical Roofing Industry Update. The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress

Contributing to the ongoing advancement of the roofing industry.

Now over 145 active members strong, the the Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress started in 1996. It was established within the National Roofing Foundation to serve as a resource for the roofing industry, and its customers, through an endowment fund. Every year, Alliance grows stronger, improving the roofing industry by funding research, advancing the education of future roofing professionals, and leading the way in economic and technological issues.

Core Values:

Education and Training:
Alliance has a history of commitment to education, training and scholarships, helping to shape the future of the roofing industry. When Alliance was established, one of its principal fundraisers was, at that time, the president of the NRCA. Now, the scholarship program is name after him, recognizing his achievements in the raising of money for the education programs in the roofing industry. The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program Campaign provides scholarships to college and vocational-technical school students who plan to continue on to careers in the roofing and building construction industries.

Technology: Alliance serves as a collective forum of industry professionals including roofing contractors, manufactures, and distributors. This collective contributes to technological advances in the roofing industry by selecting and overseeing, as well as funding several research programs. One of these programs include NRCA’s Energy Wise Online Calculator, which will be adding new codes through at least 2017 thanks to the more than $16,000 commitment that Alliance has made to the program.

Sustainability:Roofing Education Along with taking the lead on technological advances, another core value of the Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress is to advocate for environmentally sustainable designs. In 2012, the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing launched RoofPoint, which Alliance is an enthusiastic supporter. This is a voluntary, consensus-based sustainable/green roof rating system developed by the center to help building owners and designers select nonresidential roof systems based on long-term energy and environmental benefits.

Philanthropy:
Another one of the core values of Alliance is to be able to give back to the community. One way that we already talked about is through scholarships, but they have recently expanded their funding initiative to “Help Our Own”. Families in life-altering circumstances, such as loss of a bread winner, severe injury or illness, can be nominated for help. There is no set limit for funding, as life altering events may require substantial assistance. As they avoid giving away cash, the following are the type of assistance that this program distributes: Bill pay assistance, disaster relief in the way of renovation or reconstruction, disability accommodations, supply of material and payment of labor, supply of equipment (medical, household), supply of services (in-home medical, therapeutic).
