An Innovative Type of Roofing System
Roofing systems are constantly being updated, and there is a lot more on the market nowadays than just standard asphalt shingles. Today, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Nu-Ray Metals– a local company with locations in Auburn, Spokane, and the California Redlands that provides an innovative solution to metal roofing. With excellent warranties, finishes, and accessory products, it is no wonder we have been opting to go with Nu-Ray Metals for our recent metal roofing projects.
Why Nu-Ray Metals?
When choosing the materials to fix your existing roof or to start an entirely new project, the options are vast. Nu-ray advertises as having the “strength to protect what you love,” and will both protect and last for the optimum duration of your roof. While purchasing a metal roof is a larger investment than with most other roof systems, the return on investment is excellent and you will save money in the long run. A metal roof can last a lifetime, can increase the resale value of your home, and in some states, like Texas, a metal roof can even lower your homeowner insurance by 35%. All of Nu-Ray’s operations are designed to protect nature and natural resources. Their products are 100% recyclable, and excess material from the manufacturing process is also recycled.
Our Favorite Series
Here at Chase Construction North West Inc., we most frequently use the 1000 and 6000 series of this line of products. They both come in a variety of gauges that are perfect for any roofing project, and you don’t need to worry about lack of finishes with either as there are a number of options available. They both require a 3:12 minimum slope and apply over open framing and/or solid substrate. They also both have flat panel, pencil runs, or striations options.
The NRM 1000
The 1000 series is a standing seam metal roof system. In this type of system, continuous panels run from the ridge of the roof all the way down to the eaves. Between the panels are seams connected by fasteners, which are raised above the level of the metal roofing. The advantages are many. First, the seams, or the weak point in any roof where there is great potential for moisture entry, are raised above the level of the roofing panel. Additionally, because the metal panels run uninhibited from the top to the bottom of the roof, not only are there no horizontal seams but in total, the roof has a far fewer number of seams. Raised seams, with no roof penetrations, assist in helping to minimize the chance of a roof leak down the road. The metal material is also much tougher than standard composition, provides the “cool roof” benefits, and comes in a much wider array of colors. The 1000 series is available in 22, 24 and 26 gauge and comes with a concealed fastener coup system. The finishes available are 40-year painted, Zincalume Plus, copper, and aluminum.
The NRM 6000
The 6000 series is a classic snap lock system. This type of system provides all of the sturdiness and protection benefits, as well as the aesthetic factors. The snap lock system is designed to save on labor costs as the seams can be locked by a simple snapping of the panels together. This allows sections of the roof to be easily accessed if there are any problems down the line. Additionally, the snap lock roof panel installation offers high level
of wind uplift protection and with it, these standing seam roof panel float on the roof deck, allowing for expansion and contraction with temperature extremes. The 6000 series comes in 24 and 26 gauge and has a concealed fastener snap lock system with no clips needed. The finishes available are 40-year painted, Zincalume Plus, and Copper. With either system, you can be sure that your roof will look sleek and protect your home for life.
