At Chase Construction North West, Inc., we firmly believe in working closely with our local Chambers of Commerce – to help give back to the community. On July 29, 2021, Chase Construction North West sponsored a table for the Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Outlook Luncheon.
Speakers included Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier, Puyallup Economic Development Manager Meredith Neal, Puyallup Director of Development & Permitting Services Jeff Wilson, Sumner Community Development Director Ryan Windish, and Port of Tacoma Executive Director Eric Johnson.
After a delicious lunch, the speakers took the stage – welcoming us back after being forced to skip last year’s luncheon due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pierce County Executive Dammeier and Port of Tacoma Executive Director Johnson both fully elaborated on the delays that almost every industry has been facing due to congestion in the Port of Tacoma; they also, however, gave some expectations for the future, showing us some positives. Anticipating that the Port of Tacoma’s congestion should lessen shortly.
Mrs. Neal gave a great look at how well businesses have recovered in 2021 in the wake of the pandemic and closures. Surprisingly, the Puyallup and Sumner areas managed to hold up more than expected during the closures, and showing significant signs of improvement in 2021.
From the optimism of the speakers as well as the trends being shown – both in new developments in the City of Sumner, as well as local improvements, such as the rebuilding of Sumner High School as explained by Director Windish – the rest of 2021 and the first half of 2022 should be a great period!
