2. Metal roofs are much noisier during rainstorms
This is actually not the case. The metal roof is typically installed over an existing roof with attic space and insulation also acting as a foundation, and therefore it is generally no louder than other roof types during such weather conditions. In fact, it may even be quieter.
3. Metal roofs are highly susceptible to hail damage
If your area is prone to experience storms with extremely large hailstones, there is a chance for your metal roof to get dented. However, normal sized hail will not be able to cause any damage. Additionally, with textured roofs, such minor denting is even less readily visible.
4. You cannot walk on a metal roof
You can, you just have to research how to do so without causing damage. The manufacturer of the product you chose should have instructions and specifications on their website or product pamphlet.
5. A metal roof will cause your home to be colder in the winter
In fact, a metal roof has absolutely no effect on the temperature of the typical vented attic in winter. It is the insulation under (or on top of) the floor of your attic that keeps you warm.
