Protecting and Preserving the Environment!
It is not a question whether or not our environment is being impacted by our daily activities that there is a sense or urgency to move towards more eco-friendly practices. Many manufactures have developed effective eco-friendly alternatives in their product lines that is now apart of what we call the new “building green” trend. Among those who are encouraging other builders and contractors to take a step towards going green is PABCO Roofing Products. Protecting and preserving the environment is a core value of PABCO Roofing Products. They have developed programs and products to help reduce waste and support sustainable practices.
PABCO® annually diverts over 30,000 tons of waste products from landfills to be reused or recycled.
- Asphalt process waste is recycled for use in local road construction.
- Over 98% of water used during production is collected and reused.
- Empty pallets are collected from our distributors, refurbished by a local pallet recycler, and reused. Pallets can be refurbished and reused many times over.
- All excess granules and sand are collected, sorted, and reused in our manufacturing process.
- Recycled materials are utilized in manufacturing, when available.
- Waste limestone is sourced for use as a raw material
Solar Reflective Shingles by PABCO Roofing Products.
One product that stands out the most to us is their Premier Radiance and Premier Radiance ELITE Solar Reflective shingles.Premier Radiance and Premier Radiance Elite shingles provide you with the quality one expects from PABCO, top quality! They provide you with a limited lifetime warranty and a 15 year wind warranty up to 1130/mph. Their shingles range from a 0.25-0.28 initial solar reflective rating. PABCO’s Premier Radiance and Premier Radiance Elite shingles provide customers to go green by featuring several qualities that ensure you are following the “building green” trend:
SOLAR REFLECTANCE- Premier Radiance Elite and Premier Radiance Solar Reflective shingles feature 3M Cool Roofing Granules that reflect up to 28% of solar energy from the sun back to the atmosphere. 3M Cool Roofing Granules are up to four times more reflective than comparable typical standard colored granules.
THERMAL EMITTANCE– The thermal emittance of an asphalt shingle is a measure of how effectively it radiates heat back into the atmosphere. Shingles with higher thermal emittance values radiate more heat back into the atmosphere, which means less heat passes through the attic space below.
THE RESULT– The Solar Reflective Index (SRI) value is derived by combining the solar reflective and thermal emittance values of a particular shingle. Tests show that applying shingles with a higher SRI value results in lower attic temperatures when compared to the same structure covered with shingles that have lower SRI value.
